2 Years
Where have the past two years gone?! I can't believe it was two years ago today I embarked on the adventure of a lifetime. I have formed great friendships and a lasting love of children because of my trip to Africa. All children, but especially African children...specifically Kenyan, hold a special spot in my heart.
I find myself thinking and taking about my experience with the Project 24 Organization quite often. Photos throughout my room and office at school are the physical reminders I see every day. Stories and memories are the emotional connections I am regularly reminded of.
Meeting my fiancé, Gary, made me think even more about Kenya. Gary, and several other brothers and sisters, were adopted into an incredibly loving family. Reading the book his mother recently published, You Can't Bungee Jump With a Pair of Pantyhose, gave me more insight on his life and a glimpse at adoption. (Side note, everyone should read it!) This brings me to my next point...
I have found myself thinking more and more about all of the children in Kenya, and around the world, who need our prayers and a loving home. Am I meant to adopt a child or children? If I could bring every child I met and fell in live with I certainly would! But that is just not possible. Only God and time can answer if Gary and I are meant to adopt. But it definitely has been something that's been on my mind!
Please pray for Julie McManus as she departs in August to serve as a two-year missionary in Kenya. I have known Julie for many years, but we formed a special friendship on our trip to Kenya. God's blessings to you Julie!
