Updates

Update 1.

I have been hired to teach 5-12 band and 9-12 choir at Edgerton Public School in Edgerton, MN! I am beyond excited to begin this new adventure. I have already been in contact with administration, incoming 5th graders, the music store, set a date for an instrument display night and much more. Edgerton is a small town of approximately 1,200 people. It is about 20 miles North of Luverne and just one hour from Sioux Falls. Shopping time!

Update 2.

I finished up my long term sub position in Sioux Falls on Friday, May 3. The three performances all went extremely well, and I could not have asked for a better ending to my three months at the two schools. Since then, I have been subbing most every day between LqPV and Dawson. It is neat to be in so many different classrooms and see so many different teaching styles.

Update 3.

I am still dealing with a heart with a mind of it's own. In the last three months, my heart has stopped/been too slow four times. I was awake for two and asleep for the other two. The doctor is not all that concerned yet because they typically happen when I am asleep. I don't quite understand how a heart that stops isn't concerning no matter when it is? I am trusting and having faith in the doctors at the North Central Heart Institute to be giving me the best care and treatment they feel necessary. We are still monitoring everything, and I keep sending in readings every three months. I do get dizzy regularly, but I still feel great most of the time though!

Update 4.

I am going to be extremely busy this summer! Unfortunately, no international travel will be happening :'( I may or may not be helping out at Lutheran Island Camp this summer. This is something I have wanted to do for a number of years, but I have never been able to commit to an entire summer. So, I'm just waiting to hear if/when I will be able to work there. June will be kept busy with traveling to Aberdeen for disc golf tournaments with Brandon, Thirty-One meetings and parties, bridal showers for the lovely Erin Brustuen and her finacé Derek DeBates. I am excited to attend a shower and also co-host a shower for them! I will also be going to Valleyfair with the Edgerton high school band. The students invited me to come along with them. What a great way for me to meet some of the students! The first part of July will be spent with family celebrating the 4th of July at the lake. Then, I will be traveling to Denver for the Thirty-One National Conference. This will be my first national conference with 31, and I am very excited! The middle of July we are having an instrument display night for the new band students at school, and then lessons start for them the last couple weeks of July! The beginning of August will be spent getting my room ready, attending staff development days and the Swift County Fair. Summer is going to go too fast!!
