The Beginning of the End

Well, it's official. I'm graduating on December 14! I am busy finishing up my student teaching and getting ready for graduation. I taught at an elementary school in Aberdeen for six weeks and now am in the middle of my third week at a middle school in Aberdeen. Both are going/went very well. I was also hired as the long term elementary vocal music education teacher at Christ the King and Holy Spirit School's in Sioux Falls, SD. I will be working there from February-May. I am looking forward to this new adventure!

Lot's of changes are coming my way in the near future. After graduation, I will be moving out of my apartment (that I just moved in to in May) to save money on rent. I will be moving home until I go to Sioux Falls, and I will be subbing at various schools in the home area until then. I am also having to resign from my current position as a cashier at Walmart effective this Saturday. Due to a huge lack of communication between members of management and people in charge, I was scheduled on days I absolutely cannot work...Thanksgiving, graduation, etc. I had planned to take a leave of absence while in Sioux Falls and was told I could, but found out yesterday I cannot because I will be getting paid in Sioux Falls and nobody can take a leave of absence at Walmart for something they are getting paid for. So I decided to end that position earlier rather than later. It is still pretty new and hasn't all set in yet with all of the changes coming my way soon!

My boyfriend, Brandon, got a chocolate lab puppy last weekend so I have been busy playing with little Izzy. She is a ball of fire and loves to play with her toy monkey and chew on pretty much anything we will let her chew on.

An update on Project 24...due to the recent activities in Kenya (Westgate Mall terrorist attacks, grenades while we were there, explosion at the airport) the powers that be have decided to take some time to consider the risks vs. the benefits of another trip. Currently there is no trip set in place, but they are considering a trip for later in 2014. Also, no new rescue centers will be built at this time. Instead, Project 24 will focus on the upkeep of their current facilities. While I see the great need for this, it stinks for those other areas that planned on getting a rescue center during a certain time frame. Please remember to keep Kenya and Project 24 in your prayers!

Until next time...
